Consent |
- Consent is a mutual agreement, between those legally able to engage in sexual contact.
- Consent is freely and actively given.
- The legal age of consent for sexual contact is 16.
- The legal age of consent for sexual intercourse is 18.
- If an 18 and a 16 year-old have consensual sex, the 18 year-old may be charged with statutory rape. Even though both parties agreed to the sex, the 16 year-old is not of legal age to consent.
- Giving in to pressure to have sex is emotional blackmail, not consent.
- Forcing someone to give in to sex is not consent.
