SAFE HAVEN FACTS

SAFE HAVEN  opened an emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault on February 11, 2002. By 9:00 am that day, the first family arrived in shelter.
2008

  • The shelter provided safe housing for 92 women and 121 children
  • Answered 3,121 crisis/information calls (2,789 women, 332 men)
  • Filed 40 restraining orders
  • Completed 221 safety plans with victims and 124 with their children
  • Provided support group to 88 women,129 children
  • Provided services to 802 victims (560 women, 55 men and 187 children)
  • Met individually with 113 sexual assault victims
  • Received 21 SANE calls, completed 8 Sexual Assault forensic (SANE) exams
  • Completed 978 safety plans with students in school
  • Presented to 48 classrooms, 978 students grade K-12
  • Gave 20 community presentations to 1,362 people
  • Provided 2 trainings to 63 Law Enforcement professionals and 4 trainings to 32 community members
  • Volunteers logged 1,244 hours of service

2007

  • The shelter provided safe housing for 75 women and 95 children
  • Answered 2,003 crisis/information calls (1,828 women, 175 men)
  • Filed 26 restraining orders
  • Completed 70 safety plans with victims and 94 with their children
  • Provided support group to 66 women, 90 children and 13 teens
  • Provided services to 558 victims (383 women, 29 men and 146 children)
  • Met individually with 88 sexual assault victims
  • Completed 6 Sexual Assault forensic (SANE) exams
  • Completed 2,550 safety plans with students in school
  • Presented to 171 classrooms, 4,199 students grade K-12

  • The shelter provided safe housing for 47 women and 37 children
  • Answered 1,850 crisis/information calls (1,683 women, 167 men)
  • Filed 17 restraining orders
  • Completed 106 safety plans with victims and their children
  • Provided support group to 41 women, 61 children and 11 teens
  • Met individually with 482 victims (378 women, 32 men and 72 children)
