Will you support us?

The emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault opened its doors on February 11, 2002 and since that time has provided emergency shelter to 1,003 women, 1,152 children and 15 men (2/11/2002 – 6/30/2017). Many times families have to share rooms to meet the needs of those requesting services.

Although the emergency shelter is the most visible of our programming, 88% or our participants don’t need shelter, but come in for outreach services including support groups, legal assistance with restraining orders and court hearings, individual advocacy and counseling appointments, housing assistance and more. Assisting participants with these types of needs requires confidential and secure public meeting space… which we don’t have!

Safe Haven’s staff support has also increased over the years to include 6 full-time and 12 part-time staff. Currently staff are sharing offices and have no private meeting space to meet with victims and their families.
